Silky chocolate, a couple of days off and, hopefully, a bit of sunshine, too! Easter has got to be one of the best holidays of the year!

There’s so many fun Easter craft projects you can do at home - on your own or, if you have them, with the kiddos. So roll up your sleeves and let’s get crafty with this cute little project!

In the name of all things frugal, we’ve prepared a craft activity that calls for items you probably already have at home: empty juice cartons! So drink up, rinse out, and you’ll already be halfway through the list of materials needed - well, almost! All the materials you need for this kid-friendly craft are listed below.

MATERIALS:

- A few empty cartons
- Acrylic or spray paint
- Brush
- Potting mix and seeds
- Chocolate eggs or your favorite candy
- Markers
- Scissors
- Glue or sticky tape

STEP 1: PAINT IT!

You’ll need several layers of paint to disguise your juice cartons properly. We primed ours with plain, white paint first, before using our happier colors on top.

STEP 2: CUT IT!

Once the paint has dried and you’re happy with the result, it’s time to cut your cartons in the shape you wish. We cut out the base for a bunny and a chicken.

STEP 3: PIMP IT!

And now, to our favorite part - transforming our sad old cartons to happy little baby animals! You can draw eyes, beaks, ears and everything else by hand. Alternatively, you can download our template with cute little details that will add tons of personality to your new pets! Just print out, color in and glue them on.

STEP 4: FILL IT!

Your Easter pets are now ready to be filled with nice things. We filled our chickens with potting mix and and sowed some wild flowers seeds - hopefully they’ll sprout quickly! We filled our other animals with yummy chocolate, of course!

These cuties are a lovely alternative to the traditional Easter egg, and could even work as a thoughtful surprise to leave at someone’s door.

And oh, HAPPY EASTER!
